We believe…
- Our community has the resources, will and ability to end poverty.
- All people have the right to food, shelter, social justice and opportunities.
- Racism perpetuates poverty. To end poverty, we must undo racism.
We believe that together, we can build a community free from poverty, prejudice and neglect in which all members stand on Solid Ground with the skills and confidence needed to achieve their dreams. For more than three decades, Solid Ground — formerly the Fremont Public Association — has helped our most vulnerable community members overcome economic crises and develop the skills and resources they need to thrive. Our 30 programs throughout King County have helped hundreds of thousands of people break the cycle of poverty since 1974.

Remaining steadfast during challenging times.
We wanted to let our friends know that despite the current challenging economic times, Solid Ground remains strong and steadfast in our commitment to help people living on low incomes as they overcome poverty and realize their dreams. We are undertaking a number of strategies to ensure continued strength and focus in a time of economic uncertainty. While we deeply regret ending our Home Care program, we are proud of our successful efforts to transition the program’s 200 clients and 104 staff members to other agencies, ensuring that they will maintain care and employment. For 2009, we are doing everything we can to strategically trim expenses without significantly impacting additional services. We are making our organizational infrastructure even more nimble and sustainable. Clearly, our primary concern throughout this economic crisis will be the wellbeing of the 33,000 families we serve each year.
