Fremont Fair

   2009 Fremont Fair poster

Effective January 28, 2010, Solid Ground transferred ownership of the Fremont Fair to the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.
For nearly 40 years, the Fremont Fair has been one of Seattle’s best-loved street fairs, and Solid Ground and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce are dedicated to ensuring this tradition continues for many years to come.

The 2011 Fremont Fair will take place June 18 &19, and Solid Ground will still benefit from a portion of funds raised through the event.

For current information about the Fremont Fair, please visit the Fremont Fair website or contact the Fremont Chamber of Commerce at 206.632.1555 or info@fremontfair.org.

Fremont Fair History

The Fremont Fair originated in 1974 as a fundraiser and neighborhood celebration produced by Solid Ground (when we were known as the Fremont Public Association). For years, the Fair was an integral part of our efforts to fight poverty in that local community. Since then, we have experienced widespread growth and are now a leading regional force working against poverty, providing advocacy and support throughout the state. Based on this reality, the organization concluded the Fair would be better supported to return to its roots and be managed by a local Fremont entity focused on the Fremont community.

We did not make this decision lightly – Solid Ground has produced this event for several decades as a way to involve folks in building a better community, while also directly giving back to the neighborhood. The event has been very near and dear to us, but, given our growth and other fundraising endeavors, it no longer made sense that this event remain under Solid Ground’s umbrella. We are very excited the Fremont Chamber has taken over all ownership and management of the event moving forward, and we could not have left it in better hands.

For details on the transfer of ownership, please see this press release, Solid Ground Announces Fremont Fair Transition to Fremont Chamber of Commerce.

More Information

The Fremont Fair is held along the west bank of the Ship Canal near the heart of the funky and friendly Fremont neighborhood — Seattle's own "Center of the Universe." The Fair celebrates the Summer Solstice and the best of our community: art, spirit, sharing, celebration and working together to help each other.

During Fair weekend, people from all walks of life come together to shop, eat, drink, perform, smile, dance, run, converse, debate, groove and parade. Starting in 2010, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the food/craft vendors and music, and the Fremont Arts Council will continue to sponsor the Solstice Parade as they have for many years.

And while the Fremont Fair emphasizes good times, it will also continue to raise funds to help meet the needs of people with lower incomes in our community.
