JustServe AmeriCorps was founded in 1994 at the inception of AmeriCorps. Originally known as “Seattle JustServe AmeriCorps,” the program was one of five youth violence prevention AmeriCorps teams sponsored by the Department of Justice… thus the name!
JustServe operated as an AmeriCorps program sponsored by Solid Ground, with a major partnership from the Seattle Police Department, from 1994 to 2012. During that time, more than 750 adults of all ages and backgrounds have contributed a year of their lives to social justice and violence prevention through JustServe.
